DJ Tiesto--The DJ.No.1

Tiësto ( born Tijs Verwest ) on January 17, 1969 in Breda, North Brabant, Netherlands) is one of the world's most famous trance DJs and producers in the electronic dance music scene. Although he has used many aliases in the past, he is best known for his work as DJ Tiësto. On his latest productions, however, he has dropped the "DJ" label and is now known simply as "Tiësto", an alias which is a twist on his childhood nickname. His accomplishments include being voted "World’s No.1 DJ " 3 consecutive times by DJ Magazine from 2002 through 2004, the first DJ to play live on stage in front of a public audience at an Olympic Games at the 2004 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony in Athens, and a nomination for a Grammy Award in 2008, for his album Elements of Life
I feel the energy from the crowd and I try to give it back, to create a unity---Tiesto

Tijs Verwest had an interest for music since the age of twelve. When he was twenty he decided to dedicate more time to it and began DJing professionally at school parties and then moved on to become a resident DJ between 1985 and 1994 at several clubs in the Netherlands after his manager and friend Wilfred encouraged him. During these years, he produced hardcore/gabber However, it was at The Spock, a small club in Breda, where he was able to fine-tune his own style by playing in a separate room from 10 pm until 4 am on weekends. In the beginning of his career as DJ he mostly played new beat and acid house, and many Madonna songs because her music shows that she likes to dance. Before the release of her album there were already dancemixes like Vogue which was one of the songs of Spock. He was discovered by the General Manager of Rotterdam-based Basic Beat Recordings. Tiësto released his first of five mix CDs as a part of the label's Forbidden Paradise series.

Tiesto's concerts

His fame continued to skyrocket in the early 2000s following his six-hour "Tiësto Solo" sets which he performed without other DJs or opening acts. This idea, of one DJ playing alone to a large crowd, was brought to its pinnacle when Tiësto was the first DJ to hold a solo concert in a stadium; on May 10, 2003, he performed for over 25,000 people in Arnhem's Gelredome. This concert was later called "Tiësto in Concert", the event was an enormous success. He repeated the same type of concert the following year during two consecutive nights in late October. In addition to holding these two concerts for 35,000 of his fans, he held another concert for a crowd of 20,000 in Hasselt, Belgium the following week. DVDs of both his May 10, 2003 and October 30, 2004 concerts have been released, having the other DVD titled "Tiësto In Concert 2".[more...]

Rapture iio---Nadia's voice is really mesmerizin!!!!!

La
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La
La la la la la la
La la la la la la

The night I laid my eyes on you
I felt everything around me move
Got nervous when you looked my way
But you knew all the words to say

And your love slowly moved right in
All this time, oh my love, where you been

Mi amore
Don't you know
My love I want you so
Sugar
You make my soul complete
Rapture tastes so sweet

I'm mesmerised in every way
You keep me in a state of daze
Your kisses make my skin feel weak
Always melting in your heat...............

If this is what u hum around quite a lot , if u luv Nadia's mesmerizing voice , are you a fan of Dance charts??? Then this post is for you!!

iiO

iiO (or iio, pronounced "eye-oh") is a New York City based dance music act composed solely of producer/songwriter Markus Moser. Former members include vocalist/songwriter Nadia Ali, who left in 2005 to pursue a solo career. iiO are best known for their 2001 hit "Rapture", the lyrics to which were allegedly inspired by a meeting that occurred between Nadia Ali and an unidentified nightclub patron. Originally named Vaiio, a derivation of the Sony VAIO laptop on which the duo was creating much of their early work, the "Va" was dropped to prevent potential legal problems with Sony.

Nadia Ali

Nadia Ali (born August 3, 1980 in Libya) is a Pakistani-American singer and songwriter who is best known as a former member of the band iiO, and for their breakthrough 2001 hit Rapture which reached #2 on the UK Singles chart and topped dance charts all over the world.

While 20 years old, Ali was working in the New York offices of Versace, and aspiring to start a music career
, when a co-worker introduced her to producer Markus Moser, who was looking for a female singer to collaborate on some of his original dance music production. The two teamed up and started a group that was originally named "Vaiio," named after the Sony laptop Nadia was working on. They later dropped the "va" to avoid causing problems in the future with Sony. Working with Moser, she wrote the lyrics and the vocals for the songs. After the success of the 2001 hit "Rapture," the single was remixed many times by the likes of Armin Van Buuren, John Creamer & Stephane K and Deep Dish with bootleg and white label remixes emerging as well. The duo toured all over the world for years and released more singles, including "At the End," "Runaway" and "Smooth."

Ali left the group in 2005 to pursue a solo career, however the long-awaited full-length debut album Poetica was not released to wide distribution until 2006, and Moser continues to release iiO material featuring her on vocals. Most notably, these releases include the 2006 single "Is It Love?" which went to #1 in America on the Billboard Dance Chart, and the 2007 Album Reconstruction Time: The Best Of iiO Remixed.'

iiO followed up "Rapture" with several successful remixes of the track by producers John Creamer & Stephane K, Armin Van Buuren and Deep Dish. A large number of bootleg and white label remixes ensued, including a highly-sought Paul Van Dyk remix. After "Rapture" was released, the duo followed suit with "At the End" in 2003. The release featured remixes by The Scumfrog and Saeed & Palash.

iiO's first album, Poetica, had been delayed several times and was finally released independently in March 2005 on Made Records, and released worldwide in June 2006. "Smooth" was the first single released to promote the album, followed by "Runaway", "Kiss You", "Is It Love?".

In 2007, iio released Reconstruction Time: The Best Of iiO Remixed, a remix album which contains the single "Rapture 2007".

Top 10 Gadgets of the year 07

Let me start with 10..

10. Optimus Maximus Keyboard — From Vaporware to Reality

We've lurched from voluble praise of its beauty to bitter sarcasm aimed at its price, but there's one thing you can say for sure about the Maximus: It actually exists and you may order one. Hey, it's more than can be said about other things in the vaporware stakes. This $1,536 beast of a 'board isn't the most expensive thing in our Top 10, but it's not far off.

9. HP Blackbird 002

Who would have thought it? Hewlett Packard — peddler of bland office-bound boxes that remain spiritually beige even if color schemes have moved on — paired up with Voodoo and turned out the year's most-distinctive desktop gaming tower. And good Lord, what a box! Even if similar specs are offered by a dozen other boutique outfits, none can match that sexy etched case.

8. Zune 2

OK, we're batting for the other team. Defiantly decent on first look, Microsoft's second outing kills the iPod Classic up close, and we're not afraid to say it. Sure, Apple's moved on with the iPod Touch, but with only 16 GB of flash storage, it's more of a minor leaguer compared to other players. This year, the devil rules our roost.

7. Amazon Kindle

Given the choice of Sony style or the ugly, poke-your-eye-out lines of Amazon's new e-reader, the one with free internet wins. Though its primary functionality is designed to funnel you into spending money at the Kindle store and is hampered by nickel-and-dime fees, skip to the web browser, and the unit shines. The e-ink display is, as ever, fabulous.

6. Asus Eee PC

The little laptop that could, the Asus Eee PC grew from summertime whisper to a whirling dervish of hype by fall's end. Now the reviews are in, and the damn thing rules. Stuck in a thick pack of cheap ultraportables to appear at Christmas, including the Zonbu Mini, the OLPC and the Nanobook, it's the one we like best.

5. Nokia N810 Tablet PC

Nokia's N810 internet tablet is the pocket-sized computer an entire generation of geeks has dreamed of owning. So what if it isn't a phone? Phones suck. This is the wired life given to you wirelessly. And because the operating system is built on Debian Linux, you can hack it any way you like.

4. Olevia 747i

Cheap, utilitarian and good, Olevia's entire range of high-def TV sets puts more-expensive brands to shame. Its 747i is the king, a 47-inch beast packed with inputs, features and a picture that smokes sets that cost twice as much.

3. Archos 705 Wi-Fi

The just-released successor to the summer's best portable media player, the Archos 705 Wi-Fi remains our undefeated favorite, even after the Cowon Q5W fell flat. Solid, powerful and pricey, it is to everyday MP3 players as Porsches are to Pintos.

2. Olympus E510

Nikon's D40 kicked open the door to affordable DSLRs, but the Olympus E510 closes the book on them, thanks to aggressive discounts that bring this formerly sub-$1,000 model into the sub-$500 bracket. Sharp pics, top-notch image stabilization and 10 fashionably unfashionable megapixels make it the camera to have.

1. Jailbroken iPhone

Out of the box, Apple's iPhone is horrifically crippled. With a mid-triple-digit price tag and ample power purring within, Cupertino's flummoxing user restrictions did nothing but motivate the haxz0r community. Broken wide open by these ninja tinkerers, the Jesus phone comes to life with third-party homebrew software ranging from retro-gaming emulators to serious PIM apps. Why wait until February for carefully curated (and controlled) outside development, when you can have it now, and feel a little dirty while you're at it?

Hallucinogen

Hallucinogen is the stage name of Simon Posford (born 1971), an electronic musician specializing in Goa trance music from England. His early work is as an engineer on the T.I.P.(Raja Ram) and Dragonfly(Youth) labels. His first album, Twisted, was one of the most widely influential electronic music recordings of its time and helped to define the psychedelic trance genre. The follow-up album, The Lone Deranger, only cemented his influence.

From then on, Posford ventured into numerous collaborations with other artists. His most notable projects involve artists such as Raja Ram (Shpongle), Martin Glover (Celtic Cross) and Prometheus a.k.a. Benji Vaughan (Younger Brother). The vocalists he uses most often in his music are Michele Adamson and Abigail Gorton. Though pooling his talent from a host of worldly influences, many of his fans will attest that he has the "Posford Touch", a certain unmistakable quality to the sound of his music, that is revered by psychedelic and electronic enthusiasts from around the world. He is renowned for his meticulous production skills and the multilayered depth his music has. These skills have led to recent production work outside the genre of Psytrance on the album "Valid Path" by Alan Parsons.

Simon grew up in the village of Chobham, Surrey. While attending the nearby Woodcote school he played keyboards in his first band, "the Electric Light Failure." Later as a teenager he experimented extensively with home recording, first on a 4 track portastudio and later with a Tascam MSR-16 16 track recorder.

He is also the co-founder of Twisted Records with Simon Holtom (previously manager of Youth's Dragonfly label), which is one of the most influential psychedelic trance record labels.

A track by Hallucinogen, called 'Bubble n' Tweak,' is featured in the Gran Turismo 4 video game.

In 2002, In Dub was released, a collection of Ott dub remixes of Hallucinogen tracks.

Top 60 classic trance tracks, in order of best to...least best

Trance was a very different kind of music before 1996. I'm not really going to describe it, because it was very freeform: the only connecting factors were a primarily 4/4 beat; a spacey, ethereal, hypnotic atmosphere; long songs; and a slow progression of layers as tracks unfolded.

In truth, it's a far stronger genre than post-'96 trance, the style hadn't templated, artists were still coming in from the world of "art music" (musicians with university degrees, classical artists expanding their repertoire, etc.): it was far more innovative and interesting.
I've assembled a collection here of tracks that perfectly capture this era of trance, all pre-1996 (in other words, the absolute best of pre-1996 trance).

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
